Salary

£11,635.72 gross (including London weighting and a fixed sum allowance of £479.65). This is based on the full time rate of £29,089.31.

Key purpose

The Organiser will be responsible for developing and supporting the campaign planning for elections; supporting the development of the Labour Party in Islington North; and for building relationships with groups and communities who do not belong to the Party to develop and deliver campaigns on key local issues.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the building of party organisation and activity and effective election and campaign organising. The Organiser will work with the London Regional team, the GLA candidate, the local MP, Labour Party officers, the Constituency Labour Party, its Branches, the local Labour Group and other units within the Party. The Organiser will also work with trade unions and local groups/campaigners beyond the Party.

Specific Responsibilities Labour Party

  • ➢  To work with the MP, constituency officers and Islington Council Labour Group to mobilise and organise the members in preparation for elections
  • ➢  To work with the Vice Chair (Campaigns) and branch officers to build the capacity of all wards to undertake effective campaigning
  • ➢  To work with the Regional Communications Officer where appropriate
  • ➢  To support members on election techniques, community campaigning, production ofnewsletters, voter i/d (doorstep and telephone), voter registration and postal votes, and Labour Party computer systems

  • ➢  To assist in the development of communications systems with branches, members and other units of the party and affiliated organisations in the area to promote Labour’s achievements and Party activities
  • ➢  To coordinate the production of campaign materials
  • ➢  To prepare materials to support campaigning and voter i/d.
  • ➢  To support the local party to develop online campaigning
  • ➢  To attend meetings of the CLP and EC as required. This will involve some eveningand weekend working
  • ➢  To organise public engagement visits and events when requiredCommunity
  • ➢  To identify and develop campaigns around key local issues
  • ➢  To build alliances with trade unions and groups beyond the Party to further thesecampaigns
  • ➢  To establish and develop relationships between the CLP and community campaigners,external organisations and activistsPerson specification
