When it was first proposed it seemed like a good idea because it would reduce landfill and generate energy to heat homes. Now the technology is out of date: the evidence that it will release large amounts of CO2 and micro particulates is clear; more waste is being recycled so waste will be imported by road to keep it going, and there are better ways of generating the energy.
If the project goes ahead, local residents will suffer from the air pollution and we will all be affected by its contribution to climate change.
Our initial goal is to reach 100 signatures so that the petition gets spread more widely and then to get as many signatures as possible. We need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here:
