Dear Friend,

Following last year’s successful ‘Tackling the Environment and Climate Emergency’
meeting of the Environment and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee, I wish to again
invite partners, businesses, the voluntary sector, as well as local campaign and
community groups, to this year’s special Environment and Regeneration Scrutiny
Committee on reaching our 2030 net zero carbon target.

The meeting will be on Monday 14 March from 7pm to 9pm on Zoom and I
would be delighted if you were able to attend.

Islington Council published Vision 2030: Creating a Net Zero Carbon Islington by
2030 in November 2019, our ambitious strategy to create a fairer, more sustainable
Islington.

The council is progressing with its detailed plan to deliver Vision 2030 but it is clear
we cannot achieve our goals by ourselves. We will only succeed with the
participation of our communities, businesses and stakeholders.

We want to create a genuine partnership with you to identify how we can create a
cleaner, greener, healthier Islington together. We plan to do this through virtual
workshops on a similar model to last year’s successful meeting.

We would also like to take the opportunity to bring you up to speed with the
progress we’re making in key areas of Vision 2030 and hear your ideas for
addressing some of the challenges.

As an important stakeholder, I hope you will be able to join Cllr Rowena Champion,
Executive Member responsible for the Environment, the senior council officers who
are working to implement this goal as part of their job, myself and other Islington
councillors on the Environment Committee.

I look forward to seeing you at what promises to be another productive and
constructive meeting. Please reply by email – Thomas.French@Islington.gov.uk if
you wish to attend.

Best wishes,

Cllr Tricia Clarke
Chair of the Environment and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee
