Islington is represented locally by a highly successful Labour council, which took 47 of 48 seats in the 2018 local elections, 23 of which represent Islington North wards.
Since 2010, we are proud that we have –
- Supported over 5,500 local people into jobs since 2014, including 1,500 young people.
- By 2020, we will have delivered 2,200 new homes for social rent, including building the largest number of new council homes in Islington for over 30 years.
- Supported young people to get the best start in life, with Islington now ranking in the top 20 in the country for boosting pupils’ attainment, whereas in 2008 the borough ranked in the bottom 20 local authorities for its GCSE results.
