Wards normally meet on the first Wednesday of each month. If you’re already a Labour Party member, look out for an email from your ward secretary. Members and Affiliated Supporters are welcome at these meetings.

The Constituency

The constituency holds a General Meeting each month. Each ward elects delegates to the General Meeting (GM). Equalities and affiliated trade unions can also send delegates.

The General Meeting is where decisions are made for the whole constituency. It normally meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Meetings start at 7.45pm and usually take place at St George’s and All Saints Church, Crayford Road, N7 0ND.

The GM elects a range positions including chair, secretary, treasurer and officers for  BAME, Disability, LGBT, Women and Youth.

At the June meeting, the GM elects delegates to the Labour Party Annual Conference.

All members and affiliated supporters are welcome to attend general meetings, but only delegates can vote.

Islington Borough Council

Islington Borough Council covers both Islington North and Islington South constituencies. Each constituency consists of eight wards. Each ward elects three councillors, a total of 48 councillors overall.

Local Campaign Forum

Each ward in Islington North and Islington South sends delegates to the Local Campaign Forum. Equalities and affiliated trade unions can also send delegates. Councillors also attend.

The forum discusses matters relevant to local government and campaigning in Islington. It is also responsible organising candidate selection for local and general elections.
