Emails have gone out to members informing them of their new ward, and giving the zoom link. The email title is “Local government wards are changing!” and the sender is email@example.com. If you cannot locate the email, please contact your current ward secretary. If you don’t know who they are, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and address.
Islington is divided up into smaller neighbourhoods known as wards, and each ward has its own branch of the local Labour Party. These meet every month and send delegates to our monthly Islington North General Meetings.
The wards will be changing at the council elections on the 5th of May 2022.
Some of the wards in Islington North will be changing their names, and because the boundaries are also changing, some people will be moved into a different ward.
In order that members are able to take part in the relevant shortlisting and selection meetings for the prospective Councillors who will represent the new wards, short meetings of the new neighbourhoods will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday the 29th of September. These will elect temporary Chairs and Secretaries to oversee the selection process in November.
We are calling these new wards “shadow” wards, and they will have their AGMs in January 2022.
We know this may be a bit confusing to members, but you will receive an email telling you which meeting you are eligible to attend and please do get in touch if you have any queries.
