A message from Alison McGarry, Chair of Islington North following 2018 Local Elections

What a great Islington ​result! We’ve repeated our record-breaking performance of 2014 by winning 47 of the 48 seats on Islington Council. A heartfelt thanks to all the candidates, activists and members who helped achieve this remarkable outcome.

Labour now has more councillors in London than at any time since the 1970s and, as Jeremy has pointed out, although Labour narrowly missed out on some London councils, we have a solid set of results which leaves us well-placed to fight and win the next general election in London.

Labour needs to do more work to overwhelmingly win a national Labour​ victory at the next general Election and Islington ​Labour​ ​Party will ​therefore ​be campaigning for candidates throughout the country.​
